Best Value Bean to Cup Coffee Machines

If you're looking to enjoy a one-press, hands-off latte that's fully customisable this machine is for you. Read our full Beem Espresso Grind Profession review for more details.

Its bean hoppers that can be swapped allow you to experiment with various blends in the moment and its different profiles mean you can continue where you left at. It's also less expensive than capsule machines and uses real beans instead of pre-ground beans.

1. Smeg BCC02

Designed by Milan-based firm Deep Design, this sleek, compact machine blends the brand's inimitable retro style with modern technology. It handles every step of the coffee-making process - from grinding beans and then tamping them into a puck to making milk into a texturing process and dispenses the correct volume - so you can create barista-quality hot drinks at the touch of one button.

The machine also sports an attractive brushed aluminum front and is available in red, black or taupe, meaning it's easy to integrate into most kitchen designs. The machine does not come without faults, however. Many reviewers felt that it was a bit expensive for a cup-to- bean maker (and it doesn't come with a pitcher of milk).

But there were also numerous positive reviews of the quality of the coffee as well as the ease of using this machine. The intuitive digital display provides the step-by-step instructions and feedback throughout the brewing process, helping you make your drink perfect each time. It will even prompt you to adjust the grind size if not exactly right. It's like having your very own personal barista at home (minus Elon Musk's rocket building skills and Harry Potter's invisible cape).

This model is perfect for those who enjoy milky drinks. The steam wand is adjustable to the right and left to fit most drinking vessels, except Viking drinking horns. We were impressed with the speed and effectiveness of the frothing process, too. It produces an amazing, full-flavoured espresso with a great crema.

The BCC02 is a great all-rounder that's quiet, efficient and provides great value for money at its current price of PS499. Its only real flaw is that it does not provide the same level of customization as other bean-to-cup machines that we have tested. It's got a 15-bar pump instead of the usual 19 bars which isn't as effective for making high-quality espressos. Other than that, this is a fantastic machine to make coffee for those who prefer their coffee strong and dark. Click here to see Lavazza's great deal.

2. Melitta Barista TS Smart

The Barista TS Smart is a superb bean-to-cup machine with numerous features that set it out from the competition. Its most unique feature is probably the fact that it is controlled from your smartphone using the Melitta Connect app. This lets you alter the settings and then dispense different coffee recipes stored inside the machine.

This makes the machine very flexible and adaptable to suit your preferences. There are a variety of options for changing the intensity of your drinks, as well as different sizes of cups and whether or not you want to add milk. The machine has two airtight containers of beans that are automatically chosen to match different types of drinks. It will default to standard espresso beans in one and cafe crem (a German variation of long black or flat white) in the other however, you are able to select whatever beans you like. There is also a chute that can be used for beans that are already ground if you prefer to make your own.

Users have also been impressed by the speed of the machine. They've said that it can produce their drinks far quicker than other machines they've used. Another advantage is that the machine will warn you when one of its hoppers is about to be empty, ensuring that you do not get caught running out of your favourite beverage.

The price tag may be a problem for certain. The machine isn't inexpensive, with prices that are close to PS999. It's still cheaper than similar Jura machines that have similar features.

Barista TS smart is backed by a two-year guarantee. This is a longer warranty than the standard one-year guarantee. It is a sign of confidence on behalf of the manufacturer. It also comes with a cleaning tablet and a descaler, making it simple to stay on top of the machine's maintenance requirements. This is a great machine for those who are seeking a high-end and versatile bean-to-cup machine that's priced at a reasonable price.
